Our chapters continue to be committed to education opportunities for our members and their families.  As such, two $500.00 scholarships are offered annually.  The application deadline for both is 15 April each year.  Funds for our scholarship recipients will be mailed directly to the post-secondary institution in September. No scholarship funds will be mailed to the student. Listed below are the scholarships offered:

Master Sergeant Neal E. Powers Memorial Scholarship:  This award, in memory of Neal E. Powers, is granted to a member or a dependent of members of Chapter 155/A155. This scholarship is awarded to the successful applicant who has been accepted and will be entering their first post secondary education program.  To apply for this scholarship, start here

Master Sergeant William Sowers Memorial Scholarship: This award, in memory of William Sowers, is granted to members/dependents of Members of Chapter 155/A155. This is a grant for continuing education. The student must be enrolled in an accredited institution and have completed at least one semester or term.  To apply for this scholarship, start here

Division 1 Scholarship

In addition to the Chapter scholarships, Division 1 also gives out scholarships that Chapter members and their families are eligible for  There are three categories of eligibility as follows: 

 Category #1.   Graduating High School Seniors entering 1st year of College of:
                          -Parents, Grandparents and/or Guardians that are current members of AFSA/Auxiliary.

  Category #2.  College students 2nd, 3rd, and 4th years to age 26 of:
                         -Parents, Grandparents and/or Guardians that are current members of AFSA/Auxiliary.

 Category #3.* AFSA/Auxiliary members seeking to complete Advanced
                          Schooling. (Credited College or Trade School)
                          * Note! Married children in category #3 achieve eligibility for this scholarship by becoming a member of AFSA, or the Auxiliary.

Scholarship are limited to one scholarship per category, for a total of three (3) per year @ $500.00 each. Please note that there have been some changes made to the past eligibility criteria as follows:         

                  A). The grade point average (GPA) has been raised from 2.0 to 3.0.
                  B). The submitted photograph shall be 5”x7”in size.
                  C). In most cases, the winning recipient’s checks will be made out to the schools Bursar’s office/along with the recipients name, for credit towards their educational expenses.
