The AFSA International Auxiliary

The Auxiliary was officially established at the AFSA International Convention in 1973 and provides a different dimension to the AFSA structure. Under its International President the Auxiliary continues to serve the needs of its membership and its constituency, the Air Force enlisted family. A six-member executive council provides leadership to the nation-wide structure of Auxiliary chapters servicing the needs of its membership. Additionally, an Auxiliary coordinator, or representative, serves as liaison to each AFSA Division President.

For more than a quarter century, the Auxiliary has been involved in pursuing projects in community service, humanitarianism and in support for an accounting for America's POW/MIAs; enhanced spousal education; voter registration; the Enlisted Widows Home project and the Air Force Family Matters program. It publishes a surviving spouse brochure and disseminates a wide variety of information pertinent to Air Force families in such areas as spousal employment, health care, survivor benefits, etc.

The Auxiliary has been deeply committed to a strong legislative awareness program throughout its history. It has joined its members and others in the community in support of legislative advocacy on behalf of Air Force family issues. Among the issues it has worked on are: Forgotten Widows Bill; CHAMPUS inequities; Social Security offset in the Survivor Benefits Program (SBP); Military Facility nuisance fees; commissary entitlements; and long-term Nursing Home Care and Cost-of-Living caps. Through its strong support of AFSA's efforts to obtain fair treatment for our families, the Auxiliary has achieved an enviable record of accomplishments. The AFSA International Auxiliary is an invaluable ally for progress and the strong partner for an improved quality of life for all Air Force enlisted families.

Auxiliary Preamble

Having a keen sense of responsibility, being true Americans, and bearing in mind the preamble of the Air Force Sergeants Association, we, the members of the Air Force Sergeants Association Auxiliary, do band together to aid, assist and promote in all matters pertaining to welfare, social and patriotic work, for the benefit of the Air Force Sergeants Association, its members and their families. Thus do we associate and declare these principles to be the foundation and the Preamble to the By-Laws of the Air Force Sergeants Association Auxiliary.

Auxiliary Prayer

Dear Lord in Heaven, bind together, in your all-embracing love, every member of our association, nourish forgiveness and peace, bestow upon each one such wisdom and patience that they may gently exercise their understanding and kindness toward one another. Call forth from each member their greatest virtue and highest skill, instill upon each one unity and self-respect, that they may freely understand the needs of one another. Open ears to hear the truth within the words another speaks, open eyes to see the reality beneath another's appearance, make the Air Force Sergeants Association Auxiliary a sign of togetherness, peace and unity for all. Amen.
